Though Hong Kong is a small city, there are quite a number of particular species that have been discovered locally. The very unique species are: the Hong Kong Newt Paramesotriton hongkongensis, the Romer's Tree Frog Philautus romeri smith, the Hong Kong Cascade Frog Amolops hongkongensis, the very rare grayish purple Red Mountain Racer Elaphe porphyracdea nigrofasiata, the endangered Water Monitor Varanus salvator, the Burmese Python molurus bivittatus, the Kukri Snake Oligodon formosanushi, which feed on little lizards' eggs. As in China, a big country which is abounding in its natural wealth, there are of course exceedingly countless species of Reptiles and Amphibians found there.
Hong Kong is located at a very beneficial position. She is not only close to China, but she is also the core of the Asian transportation, with busy international trades carrying on 24 hours a day. We hope that by inducing new species and carting out reproduction, more and newer species of Reptiles and Amphibians can be seen in Hong Kong. Not only so, but they can be kept and cared at your own house. On the other hand, we also hope that by exporting Reptiles and Amphibians and circulating their photos, the characteristics of different species, the experiences of feeding and handling and reproduction method of the Chinese and Asian Reptiles and Amphibians can be shared around the world.
Undoubtedly, pollution of all kinds is really very serious and the Eco-system is getting worse day after day. It makes the very sensitive Reptiles and Amphibians difficult to survive on earth. In order to let these species of long-history, uniqueness and toughness to continue to grow abundantly, the method of captive breed (CB), other than environmental protection, may be the only way out, with which we are definitely encouraging and supporting institutions to carrying out. Hong Kong is at its preliminary step to CB. In Japan, local reproducing Reptiles and Amphibians by CB has becoming the main stream in preserving the various species. As in U.S.A. and Europe, CB has even been developed for quite a number of years and the skill is now rather matured. New species have been successfully produced. We have also to mention the development now in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has already successfully in producing the following breeders: the Knobtail gecko breeder, the Leopard gecko breeder, the Green iguana breeder, the Scorpion breeder, the Tarantula breeder, the Elaphe snake breeder, the Box turtle breeder. In future, we hope to be of some help in discovering possible new reproductive methods and providing more necessities in support of feeding, caring and facilities.

centers.
